In 2001, I received a full athletic scholarship to play football and further my education at Grambling State University (GSU). During the Spring game of the 2002 football season, the unthinkable happened. I tore my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Devastated, it was one of most difficult events of my athletic career and life. Not only did I lose my starting position, but I lost my self-confidence along with parts of my identity. After one year of rehabilitation, I made a come back. But "something" wasn't the same. After four years of play, several championships, several injuries, several surgeries my athletic career came to an end and I graduated with a degree in Sociology.
Upon graduation, I was granted a scholarship to graduate school at Louisiana State University (LSU). While attending a sports psychology class it was revealed, to me, what the "something" was. My mind had not been rehabilitated from the injury. Then a light bulb went off. Why hadn't I been introduced to the ways of "elite" athletes. Maybe because, I thought I was an "elite" athlete. Hence, the beginning of the Aaron Johnson Fitness Club method. After two years of study, working as a graduate assistant with one of the best football programs in the country, I graduated with a master of science degree in Kinesiology.
Aaron Johnson Fitness Club (AJFC) is a performance training and elite athlete development company focused on helping youth (7-12), teenagers (13-18), and adults (50+) build and develop self-confidence, strength, discipline, consistency, and long-term physical health. With academic foundations in sociology and kinesiology, my coaching approach combines movement science, planned, structured training, and mentorship to support both athletic performance and personal development, hence the phrase, Train the Athlete. Develop the Human. Through AJFC, we have created a training environment centered on accountability, development, and growth—helping young athletes improve physically while learning the discipline and winning habits that help on and off the field.
